Uniquely Spectacular: 'Les Troyens,' by Berlioz

THE INTRO

THE HIT SINGLE: "Night of Infinite Ecstasy"

As Act Two is ending, Dido and Aeneas (mezzo-soprano Elena Zhidkova and tenor Torsten Kerl) declare their love in a lustrous duet.  Lit by moonlight, they sing of an "intoxicating night of infinite ecstasy."

THE B SIDE:  "Dido's Farewell"

In Act Five, when it's clear that Aeneas really has abandoned her, Dido first resigns herself to death, then says goodbye to her beloved city, and to the "nights of endless ecstasy" she once treasured.
