Rachel Stewart

2011-stewart-150Rachel was bitten by the radio bug her freshman year at Davidson College when she was lucky enough to land a work-study job at WDAV. What started out as a few hours a week cataloging and shelving LP’s and mailing reel-to-reel tapes turned out to be the perfect outlet for her burgeoning interest in music and blossomed into a lifelong career in radio and new media.

Rachel’s first on-air gig at WDAV was as host of the indie/alternative rock program called “Flipsides.” But she soon began hosting classical music programming as well. She has served WDAV as a part-time announcer, Operations Director, Production Director, and Program Director over the years. She is currently New Media Director. Rachel has left the station a couple of times to travel and work in faraway places such as Japan and Scotland, but has always managed to find her way back to her roots at WDAV and Davidson.

Besides her work with WDAV’s Web site and Internet streams, Rachel is also the host of WDAV's Biscuits and Bach which airs Sunday mornings, 8 -11 a.m.

When not cranking out Web pages and Sunday morning programs, Rachel spends time with her husband Jeff and their sons, Ian and Sam, going to basketball and soccer games, taking camping trips, listening to music, hanging out with friends and generally shooting the breeze.
