Chopin – The Mazurkas

Mazurkas are miniatures, i.e. short pieces of music which are derived from a half-utilitarian genre intended to accompany mazurka dance. Mazurkas are based on folk music tradition, especially on three traditional dances: mazur, oberek and kujawiak. Chopin created mazurkas from 1825 until his death.
